FBI Director Fired
Comey Fired

So James Comey, the Director of the FBI, was fired today by President Trump. Comey has taken a lot of heat this last year for his handling of the Clinton email investigation. When I heard the news I felt compelled to write a few words regarding Mr. Comey. It is not my intention to re-litigate the email investigation or the impact of James Comey on this past election, Only to share my thoughts on Mr. Comey.

Like many Americans, I had never given James Comey of the FBI much thought until last July when he gave his first nationally televised statement regarding the investigation into the Hillary’s use of a private email server.

In his statement he laid out evidence against Hillary Clinton, piece by piece, before concluding that “no reasonable prosecutor” would charge her.

I am not a lawyer, but I heard many lawyers who seemed rather shocked by this conclusion by Comey. I decided to do a little research myself in regards to the handling of classified material, so I went to the website of Cornell University at www.law.cornell.edu.

I did not become an expert, I found what I was looking for rather quickly. A person can be subject to the appropriate sanctions in regards to the mishandling of classified material if they:

“Knowingly, willfully, or negligently disclose to unauthorized persons information properly classified under Executive Order 13526 or predecessor orders”.

Comey gave as his reason for not recommending Hillary be indicted because the FBI could not prove her intent. The lawyers I heard were correct. Intent has nothing to do with it. The only reason I bring this up is because I would like to propose a theory in regards to why James Comey acted in the way he did. Why he seemed to be letting Hillary off the hook, while at the same time, damaging her chances in the Presidential election.

To clarify, I am a supporter of President Trump. I was very vocal in my support all through the campaign and I am still vocal to this day. I mention this because, one of the reasons I was so comfortable in my support for Trump while everyone in the media was proclaiming him to be a racist, homophobic, misogynist, and the reincarnation of Hitler, was because I looked back at what people who knew Donald Trump, had too say about him.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s Donald Trump was already very well known. Not always for good reasons, but most people thought he had a big heart. There were pictures of him with Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali.

Sure, he had a reputation with women, and marriages. His divorce was very public, but there were not people out protesting him or calling him a White Supremacist. Oprah had him on her show and did a nice interview. The bottom line is, I decided to look at Donald Trump through the lens of him being a decent guy and wanting to give back to his country.

Looking at Trump that way, is what allowed me to see his election victory when all the experts thought he did not have a chance. I decided to look at Comey that way. Everyone kept saying what a straight shooter Comey was. A man of integrity, at least until they disagreed with him, then he was corrupt and inept. I man searching for headlines, a partisan trying to influence an election. What if James Comey was really a man of integrity?

What if James Comey knew the fix was in for Hillary Clinton. He was the director of the FBI after all. How would a righteous man of integrity react to a sham investigation of a woman who looked like she would be the next President? A Hollywood writer might say that if Comey knew his boss would do everything to protect Hillary, that he might have got creative. He laid out a devastating case against Hillary and her handling of classified information on her private email server. He laid it out point by point in front of a national audience before letting her off at the end. Her campaign should have been over that day. The Director of the FBI just made the case that she was not qualified to have security clearance, let alone be President.

But Hillary would not be derailed so easily. She had a President in her corner, as well as the media, and a lot of money from big donors. Her candidate was an outsider and the media and the establishment turned their sights on destroying Donald Trump. Hillary climbed back into the lead in the polls. The Access Hollywood tape was released and it looked like Trump was done.

But they released the tape too early, they had forgotten about Julian Assange and the drip, drip, drip of Hillary and Podesta emails. While Hillary claims that without Comey she would be President, Trump was recovering and Hillary was dropping as leaked emails exposed more truth about her than any politician could withstand.

It looked like it was going to be a close race and Trump was doing all he could to keep the email scandal front and center and then the last straw according to Comey. Bill Clinton meets with Loretta Lynch on a tarmac in Phoenix. This what a brazen slap in the face to the Bureau. The Attorney General meeting with the husband of a woman currently under investigation. Meeting him in secret on an airport tarmac. What would a man of integrity do knowing that a person guilty of disqualifying crimes was on the verge of becoming President and the Director of the FBI had his hands tied by the Attorney General. An AG who then met with Bill Clinton as if to rub it in the face of everyone that she and Hillary were above the law.?

Bill meets AG Loretta Lynch privately on a tarmac in Phoenix

A righteous man might decide to write a letter to Congress. A letter he knew would be leaked, about how the investigation into Hillary Clinton was being reopened to look at new evidence. A Righteous man might sacrifice himself to serve justice and the American People.

I am not saying that is what happened. I am saying, according to all the high praise Comey got for his integrity way back in July, that the scenario I just laid out makes more sense than Comey was just an attention seeking, self righteous, inept FBI Director who was terrible at his job.

It would make a great movie though! lol
